On Smoking Ban

I wonder how the sales of cigarettes doing and if people still buy gurkha cigars in heaps like there’s no tomorrow after the implementation of smoking ban in public places.  I’m sure the smokers out there frowned about this new ordinance in the metropolis as their “smoking venues” has become limited.  Even Starbucks decided to heed the government’s call that they are now in the process of transforming their former smoking areas to a non-smoking one.  It may be a huge disadvantage on the smokers’ part but this is greatly favorable for the bigger non-smoking populace.

“Dagdag Bawas Program”

The husband and three of his colleagues joined a so called “Dagdag Bawas Program” at work. It’s actually an affair that is geared at maintaining a healthy lifestyle among the employees. In a simpler term, it’s a program that will give an incentive to the group that can achieve the ideal weight of every participant in the group. So the participants should either gain or lose weight depending on what’s needed. It’s up to them how to achieve this goal. It can be in the form of a good diet, workout, put on their Nike running shoes and hit the gym or join those marathon fun runs, etc. I’m so excited about the outcome. They had their weigh in the other week and it was confirmed that the husband needs to lose weight. Good luck to the team!

Engagement Ring

When my former fiance (now my husband) proposed, it was just a simple “will you marry me?” thing proposal.  It didn’t involve any spectacular props or whatsover lavish proposal effects.  It was simple yet spectacular and special in its own way.  We’ve had talks about settling that prior that but him slipping the ring on my finger while popping the magical question still caught me by surprise.  I can’t help but smile and recall that enchanted moment every time I see my engagement ring which I still wear now together with my wedding ring.  It’s been six years since his proposal and yet, here it is still so charming and elegant.  Glad I’ve read about how to care for your engagement ring before I was able to take care of this precious thing well.

The Canadian Dream

I woke up this morning with such a huge smile on my face. I realized later when I opened my eyes that I was just dreaming and the hedonistic pleasure I'm having in an Edmonton hotel was far from reality. The vivid details however is now making me yearn to book a flight to Alberta right at this very moment, lounge and relax at the luxurious hotels and spend a few pleasurable days of sightseeing, dining, hockey watching, admiring the steel buildings in canada, shopping and nightlife activities. There is so much Canada has to offer and I'm certain that a week long stay won't be enough.

Twitter Fun

I just love everything about Twitter.  At the same time that my son’s teacher texted last night, it was also through Twitter that I learned classes are suspended today.  I also get instant and constant updates about the heavy rains.  Then this morning I was entertained to death by the discussion I had with my fellow twittermates.  It started when one shared about one effective way on how to keep the skin clear, soft and wrinkle-free.  I thought she’s referring to a few points she learned from reading nanotokin reviews.  But it turned out, it’s something else.  I just can’t share what is it because it’s something PG-related. LOL

Stay Indoors

The husband just messaged me via text that he’s on his way home now but got stranded at the terminal.  It has been raining hard since this afternoon and floods have been reported in the metropolis.  The domino effect of heavy rains = floods = traffic results to a stranded commuting public.  Hope he gets home soon safe.  Let’s all be vigilant, as much as possible just stay indoors to be safe.  Let’s have our flashlights and cellphones recharged, secure our automobiles inside steel garages, stock on food for we don’t know what lies ahead.  Praying hard for the rains to stop and for a better weather tomorrow.

Little Crappy

I’m feeling a little crappy today.  It all started with the school service picking us up so early so we have to rush eating our breakfast while prepping the little boy.  Then come dismissal time, I think he forgot that it’d be a shortened period for this week.  We waited for 30 minutes before he finally arrived.  The little boy got antsy because he wanted to go home already.  We would have just commuted but it was raining and we forgot to bring an umbrella so we have no choice but to wait for him.  This bed weather is further dampening my mood, too.  Perhaps, I should just bring out the yoga mats and practice some therapeutic breathing exercises to make feel better.

GPS Device

After riding several taxis equipped with gps and other handheld gps devices in Singapore, the husband is now all the more interested to buy one for our usage. He saw up close how the gps is used, how magnificent and how useful it is for every driver. Even though, the husband practically knows his way well within the metropolis, there are still alternate routes that are yet to be explored to escape the traffic. GPS devices are great saviors for drivers in Metro Manila..a traffic-prone area.

Not All Things Are “Bloggable”

I blog because I want to journal my thoughts, ideas and feelings.  Everyone has the freedom to write whatever he or she pleases to blog about but it can be irksome when some people cross the line.  Simply put, not all things are “bloggable”.  There’s also a limit like you don’t have to divulge every single personal details about you or your marital problems like how brutal and irresponsible your husband is, etc.  That would be like giving a pair of scopes to every reader you have granting them a microscopic view of issues that are supposed to be enclosed in the closet.

My Little Nurse

My son seemingly has this penchant to become a nurse someday.  Whenever we play make believe, he’d always choose to be a nurse.  Not a doctor..but a nurse.  I am usually the patient while he does what a nurse typically perform like taking temperature, giving out meds, etc.  Every time we watch a tv show that features doctors and nurses in it, he’d take notice of the nurses first.  I wonder if there are available nurses uniforms for kids online that I can order for him.  I bet he’d go ecstatic if I give him one.

Freebie Finds

Since I can’t scrap (due to time constraints), let me just share some freebies I stumbled upon while going over my Google Reader feeds.  This requires less time and is much easier to do and share just like how medical representatives swiftly hand out multivitamins in my doctor’s clinic.  As usual, they’re free for downloads (some for a limited time) but just don’t forget to keep in mind and respect the designers’ TOUs.  Click on the image to get to the designer’s page and download link.

Columbia Beauty School

I know of a friend who is so yearning and willing to learn cosmetology.  Unfortunately, she can’t find any accessible school near her place.  Luckily, I chanced upon a Columbia beauty school while searching online for cosmetology schools within South Carolina area and I forwarded her the website.  She instantly got interested upon seeing the curriculum which includes classroom trainings, workshops and rehearsal and performance at the end of the program which usually lasts up to 9 months.  Training topics are extensive like shampoo and conditioning, haircutting, hairstyling, formal updos training, hair coloring, nail care, skin care and many more.

Endless Inquiries About My DIY Projects

It’s been two years since my son’s 1st birthday and until now I still get emails, blog comments, flickr and multiply messages inquiring about the DIY projects I did for the party like the invites, tarpaulin, personalized chocolate wrapper, loot bags tags and funny tshirts giveaways.  I feel elated to know that my detailed supplier ratings have helped them a lot in planning their safari parties for their kids.  Some of them would even want to contract my services in designing their kids invites!  But of course, I have to politely decline because I don’t have the extra time anymore.  If I’m just free, I would have accepted it as it means a sideline and extra income for me.

Yearning To Scrap

I think I have said it a thousands time already that I so miss to digiscrap.  My mind and creative juices are willing (I think) but time schedule and my work just don’t allow me to.  My day time is just barely enough to juggle work and parenting duties.  Plus I’m pregnant so I need to rest once in a while and take a nap.  Hope I’d still be able to scrap my second baby’s party invitations and photobooks when she comes out just like I did with my firstborn.

Topamax Lawsuit

I’ve just come across a story about a mom struggling to file a Topamax lawsuit against the manufacturers of Topamax.  She wasn’t aware that this drug isn’t advisable to take when pregnant since there were no disclosure of such harmful effects.  She experienced terrible migraines in the past and so she depended on this drug for relief during her first trimester.  A few months later, her baby was born with a cleft palate.  She later on learned that the Topamax caused it.

Little Graduate Kit

image

I would love to have this Little Graduate kit from Kate Hadfield.  My son just recently finished his Preschool Summer School and they had a sort of graduation ceremonies too on their last day to culminate the summer program.  Although, he isn’t literally a graduate, this simple and small feat is memorable and momentous as it’s his first ever formal learning milestone and the elements ribbon, books, stars, and diplomas would be very symbolic.

This kit was featured as part of Kate Hadfield’s WIBBIT WEDNESDAY half price deal last week. Too bad, the promo was just good for 24 hours.  Those who were able to purchase it are now happy campers for sure.  Such promotions are indeed good sale generators for the designers.  They should offer more deals frequently so that they don’t need to post sales jobs anymore for a dedicated person to do the product marketing.

Motorola Xoom

If you are a Facebook games addict and an iPad user, I bet Apple not readily supporting Adobe Flash Player apps is a big disappointment that you might have.  My brother told me that there’s a specific application or software for that to make it work but I don’t know how accurate that info is.  Anyway, if you’re considering to get a tablet and wants one that is Adobe Flash Player 10 ready, check out Motorola Xoom.  I’ve seen its overview and says that the flash player is available as a free download from android market.  This device, by the way, is powered by Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).  When compared to its competitors, it has a larger screen, more pixels and higher quality front and rear facing cameras.
